About the Pathway Questionnaire

Pathway helps students plan more fulfilling lives by making well-informed decisions about their education and careers, especially as they think about the courses available for their third level education. The Pathway tool has three parts:

  • Students are asked to rank their favourite subjects in order of preference
  • The questionnaire identifies the student’s decision-making style, highlighting their areas of strength and where they have opportunities for development
  • Students are asked questions about hobbies, global themes and things that they are most passionate about
  • If you are a 3rd level student, think back to when you were finishing school, and use this frame of reference when completing the questionnaire

Collectively, the outcomes from these three sections will create a report that customizes a list of third level courses and career choices most suitable to the student.

Decision Making Questionnaire

Questionnaire Guide:

This section of the questionnaire will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. It contains 20 response options, organised in five columns. The first column lists the statement, for example: “My main objective in life is ...”.

The following four columns offer four possible responses to the statement, which are “To have a good job” or “To be the best at whatever I do” or “To be recognised for my achievements” or finally, “To feel secure in whatever I do”. These responses reflect your own preferences.

Participants should select one response to each statement – i.e. Least Like Me, Slightly Like Me, Moderately Like Me, and Most Like Me. Within each question, you cannot choose the same response for more than one statement.

There are no right or wrong answers to the questions listed below, so respond with what first comes to mind. All questions must be answered.
